The more I read about Ex Machina, the more I want to watch it.

With writer Alex Garland — I’ve enjoyed most of his written work — directing for the first time, and a cast that features Oscar Isaac and Domhnall Gleeson, this one looks like brainy sci-fi that one can sink one’s teeth into. While it may come off as another movie about Artificial Intelligence leading to very bad implications for the future of mankind I’m curious to see what Mr. Garland has wrought in the form of Ava, played by Alicia Vikander.

I also thoroughly enjoyed the imagery and sound design intercut with the alarmed opinions of people who would know what’s happening, for real, in the development of AI, in this trailer. That puts Ex Machina on the list of movies I’d very much like to see, and soon.
