We attended a talk at the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival where filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani and his screenwriting partner Abhijat Joshi talked about all things writing. One of the big pieces of advice they had for new writers was to write honestly and write from the heart about something you care about.

This truly is great advice. We do believe that good art comes from a place of truth and honesty. Only problem, when you’re a new, unproven screenwriter – you have no power and the person with the money can interfere with your script to such an extent that it no longer resembles what you started out wanting to make.
