Passion Pit – Carry On (Vevo Unexpected Covers)
Michael Angelakos of Passion Pit covers this song which was a bonus track from last year’s monster hit album Some Nights by indie pop darlings Fun. The piano and vocal arrangement is more mellow than the original but it’s a really good song so it works well even entirely stripped down.
Cypress Hill x Rusko – Roll It, Light It
Hip hop powerhouses Cypress Hill get the dubstep treatment in this collaboration with producer Rusko. The video and the song work really well together.
Kyoto Drive – So Much Alive
I’m a sucker for a good energetic guitar riff and this song by a young four piece rock band from Birmingham absolutely delivers. I’ve had this one on repeat for months and it’s perfect for this rainy Monday.
Mat Kearney – Ships In The Night
We discovered Nashville-based singer/songwriter Mat Kearney through a really well-made tour documentary a few years ago. This song from his album Young Love does a good job of capturing what his music is about.
Postiljonen – Supreme
I don’t know anything about this band except that they’re Swedish. This song has a nice easy summer vibe and we sure could use some sunshine right now.
John Mayer – Wildfire
We’ve had two releases so far from John Mayer’s upcoming new studio album Paradise Valley and I’m curious about the musical direction he’s going in. I don’t know what I think about it really, but from past experience I know it’s usually a leisurely reveal that may start slow but eventually ends like a champ. So here’s the new single, the folky Wildfire to tide us over until the album releases August 20th.
