Walk Off The Earth – Rude (Magic! Cover)
Canadian musicians Walk Off The Earth kick butt once again with their innovative cover of fellow Canadian band Magic!’s super hot song Rude. It is one of my favourite songs of the year and this version does it justice. A cheery start to the week.
X Ambassadors and Jamie N Commons – Jungle
Chances are you’ve heard this song in multiple places by now – the most high-profile being this Beats World Cup ad. That voice (British blues/rock singer Jamie N Commons) and those big beats make this one of the stand-out songs of the year. We bought the X Ambassadors EP and there are some solid tunes there. Watch out for these guys!
Pale – Fearing Faces
Electro-alt-pop courtesy London duo Pale, about whom there isn’t much information online. They let the music do the talking and we’re happy to listen.
Daisuke Tanabe – Paper Planes
This week I’ve got two great pieces of music by musicians I met at the Red Bull Music Academy in London in 2010. The first is Japanese composer/producer Daisuke Tanabe and this is the first release from his new album Floating Underwater.
May Roosevelt – Untitled
The second is the lovely composer/thereminist May Roosevelt from Greece. She recently performed this new piece of music (so new it has no title) in an art gallery for the site Tides and Floors.
