Michael Cera, Christoper Mintz-Plasse, Jonah Hill in SUPERBAD

  1. This movie is quite chaste considering its title. I’m sure someone somewhere is passing that title off as irony but I would have been happier if they delivered a movie that was more… “Superbad”.
  2. I found this movie funnier the second time I watched it.
  3. Less wordier — and shorter — scenes could have made the movie even funnier still.
  4. The boys in The Inbetweeners did a better job of lusting after a friend’s hot mom than the writers and Jonah Hill manage in this one.
  5. Jonah Hill and Michael Cera play characters named Seth and Evan, after the writers of this movie: Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.
  6. Seth Rogen, writing offensive material, wasn’t something that happened for the first time when he decided to risk enraging an entire nation with The Interview.
  7. This is the movie where Emma Stone and Christopher Mintz-Plasse got their start. Neither of them has really developed a schtick different from the one on display in this movie.
  8. David Krumholtz, Martin Starr, Carla Gallo, and Dave Franco have bit parts in this movie.
  9. That end felt like it belonged on a different movie.
  10. There will never be another John Hughes. That man knew how to write and film young people like no one ever since.
