Sunday Shorts

E and I decided some time ago to make a short film every weekend. We’re very committed to improving our craft. Really. But we’re also committed to earning a living. With work just piling up, the week always became one big blur and the opportunity of having a weekend free, much less to make short films in never presented itself.

This changed today however.

It’s the worst time really to be doing it - we have projects to complete, I have some annoying medical tests to look forward to next week and it all feels rather energy sapping - but we’re frustrated so we just ditched it all and decided to make it a Sunday of short films.

In the afternoon: Filmed a short. 2 people, a garden, some furniture, a chilled bottle of beer that was bloody warm by the time we ended up having to drink it for the shot. It’s no big deal, nothing life changing, but just the act of actually doing something as opposed to talking about it changed the vibe a little bit. Plus I’ve already written a brand new short for next week.

In the evening: Watched some shorts over at Depict!. Particularly liked this one: Big by Sara Dunlop

How to keep the creative ideas coming when you’re struggling to keep up with work and other demands at all times?
