You Should Be An Actor

It is a challenge every single day to wake up and have to write a short story. But that is the challenge I set myself when I began 365Fiction. Starting today, I will attempt to share some of the process, the DVD extras if you will, for the stories where the spark of inspiration comes about in interesting ways.

As usual, I was trolling the Internet for news, inspiration and something to spur me on for the day (more on that some other time) when I chanced upon this article.

The actor in question became of interest to me after I saw how he had transformed from the goofy kid in the TV show to the intense young man who could hold a scene in the movie.

From that article I clicked through to this link which loaded while I had read the article. I didn’t even watch it through, pausing it at the 00:50 mark because I had found my story’s title, in what the actor says on the clip.

Sometimes that’s all it takes.

I tend to channel more often than I tend to write. All I really need is for a door or sluice gate to be opened and it all comes pouring out. It’s also interesting to see where the story will go if I get interrupted along the way.

There is minimal editing so the stories can end up being very raw. Who knows, maybe someday I will be able to re-edit them when they are to be collected between the covers of a book.

For now you can read the fruits of today’s labour over at 365Fiction.
